Create a free Firebase project

Go to console.firebase.google.com and sign in with a Google account. Click Add project, give it any name (e.g. "my-budget"), skip Google Analytics, and create the project.

Create a Firestore database

In your project, click Firestore Database in the left sidebar → Create database → choose Start in test mode → pick any region → click Enable.

Get your app config

Click the gear icon → Project settings → scroll down to "Your apps" → click the </> (web) icon → register the app → copy the firebaseConfig object shown.
